Colin Shipley scores 11th place finish in Dan Salay Memorial

On Friday afternoon Colin Shipley made the trip to Merritt Speedway (Merritt, Mich.) piloting his Jim White Honda No. 44 Late Model for the two-day Dan Salay Memorial Wood Tic. With the Top 4 qualifiers from each group getting inverted in heats, Shipley registered the fifth fastest time in his qualifying group. Rolling off fifth in his heat, Colin dropped one spot to place sixth, which positioned him 11th on the starting grid for the preliminary feature. After fading back to 15th early in the 25-lapper, Colin Shipley worked his way up to a seventh place finish in the remaining distance. (Steve Datema photo)

With his seventh-place finish on Friday evening locking him into the 14th-starting position for the $10,000-to-win main event on Saturday night, Colin marched forward three spots in the 75-lap affair to register an 11th place outing.
